President Barack Obama got his undergraduate degree from Columbia University before going on to get his Juris Doctorate (JD), which is commonly referred to as a law degree, at Harvard Law School.

I noticed that my alma mater, the Harvard Business School, started publishing articles and books in 2001 on emotional intelligence in leadership. I recommend to you my favorite of HBS Press, Primal Leadership: Realizing the Power of Emotional Intelligence, by Daniel Goleman, Richard Boyatzis, and Annie McKee.; A shorter, good publication from HBS Press is: "Best of HBR on Leadership: Emotionally Intelligent Leadership" - A Harvard Business Review Collection of 3 articles by Daniel Goleman.

Harvard obviously sees the value of emotional intelligence for leaders.
